As professional software testing specialists, we at VALTES are bringing
our sense of mission and love of challenge to advanced technologies
that have yet to find market application.
ISDB-Tmm Test Streaming
With the end of analog broadcasting in sight, we at VALTES are aggressively conducting groundbreaking research and development in the creation of testing systems for newly launched "multimedia broadcasts." In addition to creating test cases from our research into the functionality and requisites emanating from ISDB-Tmm guidelines, we are also looking at creating test streams that take advantage of our accumulated experience in TS development. Because we are dealing with a lot of specifications that have yet to go into operation and, as such, present many unknown variables, our R&D efforts don't stop simply at proposals that demonstrate functional understanding, but are trained on offerings from both the TS and testing standpoints.

I think because of our diverse experience in testing,
we are able to offer "ideal testing" results from our R&D efforts
From the early days following VALTES' establishment, I have been involved in TS production and receiver assessment from our own unique testing standpoint. I myself have taken part in a great number and variety of cases for receiver function testing and TS production. Based on the knowledge and experience accumulated in researching ISDB-Tmm and ISDB-Tb, I look forward to further developing VALTES' testing. While our accumulated know-how has proven very effective, anyone who is involved in broadcasting knows that when it comes to the nitty gritty of TS production, having a lot of past experience is not always enough. Therefore, we believe our R&D efforts in various receiver and product testing are helping us to define new "ideals" in what receiver operation should be from a user standpoint and in compliance with guidelines.

Latin America ISDB-T Test Streams
Even when adopting the same ISDB-T format as in Japan, there can be considerable difference in the details when it comes to the ISDB-Tb method, such as in audio/visual or PSI/SI formatting. At VALTES, we are building on our practical experience in assessing receivers for Latin American markets to further drive our R&D efforts. Since local TS capture alone is not sufficient, we are taking advantage of strengths in TS creation to support tests that have grown inefficient.

HDMI-CEC linked operation verification
DLNA enables multiple devices to be linked together over networks, while HDMI-CEC controls multiple devices according to HDMI standards. Questions that emerge are: "How deep should verification go?" "What kind of test patterns are needed?" "Do we take into consideration effects of different devices or environments such weak or strong connectivity?" All of these questions represent research themes at VALTES and sticky assessment issues to be addressed and resolved going forward.
